Let’s get right to the point. The thing that struck me first about Pizza Tower was the name, because let’s face it: when it comes down to it, the naming of things is almost more important that the thing itself. Don’t believe me, try coming up with a band name.
So yeah, Pizza Tower is a great name and the game itself begs to be investigated further since food-based action is where it’s at (see Burger Time, Food Fight and probably a bunch of others that I don’t feel like researching at the moment).
So what’s this Pizza Tower thing about anyway?
Pizza Tower is a “Wario Land inspired platformer”, and it’s still a demo so many of the final furnishings are still missing and are simply placeholders (music, animation etc) for the time being. That said, Pizza Tower is fast paced, with a throwback style that is reminiscent of the classic Warner Bros school of animation running at breakneck speed for maximum effect.
In the game, you are wild eyed pizza chef and your mission is…well, I’m not quite sure yet, but you gotta run around this pizza/restaurant themed land (tower) and collect items and unlock other items all while not dying (because there is plenty of dangerous shit lurking around that can kill you). During your time in the land of delicious pizza and discarded boxes, you’ll need to collect treasures, open safes, avoid rotating pizza cutters and beat up cigar smoking sausages and cool pineapple heads. If it sounds insane, it’s because it is. It’s face paced, it’s a demo, and it’s full of crazy potential.
