Well, it’s Xmas time again and you know it’s hard to be enthusiastic for the holiday season in a year like no other (good ole Covid infested 2020, right?) and where almost nothing is “fun” anymore. That’s why you have to keep the search for the fun and whimsical alive, which is what we were doing when we came across Blizzard Blowout 64 on Itch.io.
Yep, Blizzard Blowout 64 is billed as a “neo-classical down hill racer” and it has that whimsical holiday feel, especially with the appearance of such harbingers of the season like presents, xmas trees, ice and snowmen. Your goal in Blizzard Blowout is in fact, to save the town of Shiverbrr from presents. You do this by navigating narrow, icy paths at dizzying heights, with the aim to knock the presents off the path, without flying off the path yourself towards certain death. It’s fast, and to be honest, I suck at it. But, with a little practice, I’m sure I could get a little better, or at least unlock some characters, which it appears I am also unable to do. The reason being? Because I suck.
Blizzard Blowout 64 was created as part of the 2020 Great Winter Game Jam and you can see much more of the creative and technical process as well as some Blizzard Blowout 64 game play in this video from the livestream:
