Late last year, PewDiePie (you must know who PewDiePie is by now) teamed up with tiny Montreal based developers Outerminds Inc. to bring PewDiePie: Legend of the Brofist to the mobile gaming world. First of all, I’ve never heard of Outerminds Inc. before, and with good reason: they are a tiny 4 person operation. I know even less about how PewDiePie and Outerminds came to collaborate, but I can say that the final product speaks volumes and feels like the spirit of the game holds true to what was expected from a video game starring a guy who plays video games. Ah, the beauty of working in small teams 🙂
First off, Legend of the Brofist has that real 90’s feel (an Outerminds specialty) with Mario style coins (Brocoins) and classic 8-bit sound effects. You play as either PewDiePie, CutiePieMarzia (aka Marzia) or their pugs and basically battle evil barrels and bosses and too many obstacles to mention in a little paragraph such as this one. Anyway, the game is super tough as you’ll see from one of the official playthrough’s below. Don’t let those evil things steal PewDie’s YouTube fans
That is some serious maneuverability because Brofist is not an easy game. There are 3 levels of difficulty and, coming from a guy with poor coordination for pretty much any platformer, this game pretty much has me beat before I’ve even played it. However, that hasn’t stopped me from watching this playthrough because it’s just that fascinating to watch, and the game itself looks fantastic.
